Darfur Union in the UK: Horrific Rape Crimes continue in Darfur – This Time, it was a 13 Years Old Girl Rapped by GoS Militia

Fadna Adam Mohammed, a 13 years old girl, was walking with her sister in the outskirt of Kabkabia, North Darfur, on Tuesday the 25th of April 2017, to gather some firewood fuel for cooking. Their journey was intercepted by Rapid Speed Force militia men. Fadna was brutally rapped by more than one person and at the end one of the RSF militia men stabbed Fadna with a sharp object on her private area.

Al-Khatim Adlan Centre for Enlightenment & Human Development (KACE) has reported that the medical report confirmed the attack on the minor and that the brutality of the attacked has caused rupturing of the Hyman as well as severe bleeding and multiple wounds. KACE has also mentioned that the incident was confirmed by UNAMID in their communique issued on the 26th April 2017.

The crime can not by any mean be viewed as an isolated incident given the track record of Bashir national guards in the area, and also given the documented use of rape as a weapon against the civilians of the region. One can stop at the Tabit mass rape committed the Sudanese regular troop (see HRW, ref. 1)

Also systematic rape was used as a deterrent against the women and young girls belonging to some of the African tribes in Darfur as stated on the ICC Case Information Sheet (The prosecutor vs. Omar Al Bashir, ref. 2)

Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable groups in the society in the region and under the current government.

They are always at the forefront of the struggle. They suffer harassment, and are often subjected to all form of assault,m cinch as killing, torture, and the use of rape by the perpetrators.

Darfur Union in the UK stands with the children of Sudan in Darfur and across the country as they take this monumental task of growing up in such danger. Darfur Union in the UK plea to the UNESCO to raise the aforementioned problems/ issues/ crimes to the UN Security Council to reform and ill-functioning UNAMID so that they fulfil the requirement of their mandate to protect and to report crimes happened before their eyes to the world and to use their privileges and authority to protect the vulnerable people in the region. Also direct plea to the Children protection organisations in and out Sudan to follow up the case of Fadna, and to provide support and medical attention/ counselling to her and her family.
